I used to wear clip on bow ties, because I simply didn't know how to tie it properly. Now I don't want anything else but a "self tie" because I think it looks much better and a bit less perfect is also fun which makes it look more casual, for instance in combination with a denim shirt.
The Cordial Churchman sells a lot of nice bow ties.
