Sneaker neglect

At the moment I find myself not spending quality time with my sneakers anymore. What's wrong? Is the love gone?

I have a full cabinet with nice sneakers ranging from Jordans to limited Vans, but everytime lately that I reach into that same cabinet my hands seem to gravitate towards leather lace-ups [or suede].

Maybe it's because I wear a lot of denim and want to dress-up the look a bit with nice lace-ups? It's now even up to the point that I find them to be more comfortable than my sneakers.

Don't get me wrong, every once in a while I still pull out the trusted Jordans or Nike Challengers for those long days working at a photoshoot or store opening, but I will not as easily throw them on for a night out.

I think a big part has to do with the fact that at one point everybody wore sneakers all the time, and limited edition sneakers were getting easier to obtain through cool shops opening in heavy traffic areas, meaning that it was getting harder to pull away from the mass consumer, so I stopped wearing them?

Maybe it's just a phase.

D.
